Where Are We?

Learn Spanish With Verania is located in the municipality of La Concha located about 32 kilometers from the city of Managua in the province or departamento of Masaya.  La Concha is comprised of two urban centers La Concepción and San Juan de la Concepción.  The population is about 40,000 people.

Area

La Concha has a sub-tropical pleasant and cool climate compared to the rest of Nicaragua.  The area typically receives up to 214 mm of annual rainfall and a temperature that is around 26 degrees.  This is primarily an agricultural area with fruit such as oranges, tangerines, sweet lemon, chayote, pineapple, plantains and bananas being produced.

Geography and Culture

The area, which is hilly and comprised of lush forests, is close to Lake Masaya and the active Volcán Masaya.  There is a wealth of natural beauty in the area and a visit to the active caldera at Masaya Volcano National Park, Lake Masaya, and Lake Apoyo is recommended.

 

 The friendly and warm people of La Concha make this an area well worth visiting to learn more about the Nicaraguan culture.
